A 30-hour longcase clock, 1840
An elegant longcase with a veneered flamed mahogany case with inlaid boxwood stringing and quartered reeded column to the barrel.
The scalloped arched hood door is capped by three finials. The white painted dial houses a date aperture, black Arabic numerals and subsidiary second dial with thistle brass hands – all hedged by painted gold leaf spandrels. The senior arch is painted with a charming floral scene with bird nest and eggs. The 30-hour movement anchor escapement strikes on the bell.
