French Black Slate Mantel Clock, c1870
An imposing and fine quality black slate, 8-day single fusee mantel clock, circa 1870. It has detailed leaf decoration, interspersed with depictions of Greek gods, surrounding both the base and beneath the dial. Notable lion heads on either side of the clock face, which sports Roman numerals with beautiful gilded hands and a heavy gilded bezel. All sitting on bronze feet.
