Impressive mid-19th Century West Country Mahogany Longcase
The 30-hour movement strikes the hour on a bell. A fine arched white dial displaying a number chapter ring, date aperture and a beautiful hand-painted bird and nest feature to the arch, by G. Hancock of Midsomer Norton. The flame mahogany-veneered case has boxwood inlay throughout. There are attractive, reeded pillars, together with quarter spiral columns and with brass Corinthian capitals. The hood also sports Corinthian capitals and spiral columns, topped with three finials. The base has similar veneers and inlay. Fully restored. A fine clock.
